What's Available at the Park

Recommended Activities and Park Use

Pick up your tour road pass while visiting the visitor center and view the orientation film and exhibits. With the park's brochure or tour tape to guide you, drive through the rolling landscape of the Battlefield. Stop and see the wayside exhibits, the Neilson Farm House and the famous 'Boot' monument --a 19th century tribute to the legendary heroic acts and wounding of General Benedict Arnold during the second battle.

You may also enjoy a hike or walk through the park's many fields and wooded areas which are rich in flowers and wildlife. Biking is also a popular way to tour the park although you will have to provide your own bike. All vehicles, including bikes, must stay on the park's paved road system at all times.

In winter, snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing are allowed, but the trails are not maintained or groomed by the park. Picnic areas and restroom facilities are located at the visitor center area and at designated Stops on the Tour Road.

Events at the Visitor Center and Schuyler House are free. Entrance to the Battlefield between May 1 and October 31 is $3.00 for hiking or biking and $5.00 for automobile. An annual pass costs $10.

The Visitor Center, which includes a bookstore, museum and 20-minute orientation film, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Free guided tours of the Schuyler House (located on Rt. 4 at the south end of Schuylerville) occur Wednesday through Sunday and summer holidays between 10 am and 4:30 pm, May 25 to Labor Day. The Saratoga Monument is also open for visitation Wednesday - Sunday and summer holidays between 10 am and 4:30 pm, May 25 to Labor Day.

The Neilson House (on the Battlefield) will be open as staffing allows between late May and September. To learn more about programs, special events, or volunteer opportunities call the Visitor Center at (518)664-9821 ext. 224.
