18th Century Stone: W B
W B (died 1741)
William Baker's fieldstone (schist) marker is in the oldest part of the cemetery, directly behind where Eastchester's first meeting house, built in 1692, stood. When Baker died the town was still small enough that a person could be identified by only his initials. Baker owned one of Eastchester's taverns, located on the old Boston Post Road.
