19th Century Stone: Mangle Minthorne Pell
|
|
| Mangle Minthorne Pell (1787-1803) The inscription on Pell's marble stone is a source of geneological information. It also provides public health information, noting that Mangle Minthorne died of the "EPEDEMIC (yellow fever) PREVAILING IN THE CITY OF NEW YORK" in 1805. It is one of the earliest tombstones in St. Paul's Cemetery to display a classical symbol of mourning, the cinerary urn. |
