State Parks |
|||||||
| Marine state parks are located on Blind, Clark, Doe, James, Jones, Matia, Patos, Posey, Stuart, Sucia and Turn islands. The are accessible only by private or chartered craft. All have campsites and mooring buoys and some have docks (Clark, Posey, Patos and Turn are the exceptions). Buoys and campsites are on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations. Fees are charged at some parks May through Labor Day. Plan on bringing fresh water because supplies, where available, are limited. Contact Washington State Park and Recreation, (360)902-8844, for a map and list of services at each park. | |||||||
Anchoring
in Garrison Bay |
|||||||
| A great way to visit English Camp is to drop anchor (there are no mooring buoys) in Garrison Bay. You can slip into your dinghy and motor or row to the National Park Service dock (donated by our Canadian neighbors), where you can tie up and spend the day enjoying the park. Hike to the top of Young Hill, meander along the Bell Point Trail or have a picnic on the grassy parade ground. In July and August reenactors regularly present living history exhibits of camp life during the joint occupation, culminating in Encampment 2004, scheduled August 23-24. During the summer months the waters are placid and you will have plenty of company. so be mindful of your fellow boaters, please do not anchor between Guss Island and the parade ground. Also, please don't dump your garbage in park receptacles or use our trailside woodland as a toilet. Vaulted comfort stations are located a five-minute walk from the dock to the parade ground. Guss Island is closed to visitors. | |||||||
