Volunteer Positions Sagamore Hill simply could not function without its volunteers. Our volunteer program allows the site's staff to accomplish a wide range of activities that can not always be done with limits of money and staff. A core of sixty volunteers -- retirees, parents, singles, couples, high school and college students --contributed over 7,500 hours of effort with a value of $170,000 dollars last year to Sagamore Hill.

Our volunteers provide tours to thousands of school children, answer telephones and greet visitors so park staff can conduct special tours of the Roosevelt home and grounds, and perform important research. They catalog and care for thousands of papers and museum objects related to the Roosevelt family. They perform much needed maintenance on the fences, fields, structures and infrastructure of Sagamore Hill.
