National parks have been called
"America's greatest university without walls." Education has
always been a goal of the National Park Service. Rocky Mountain
National Park has a strong tradition of campfire talks, guided
walks, and informal talks beginning in the 1920's and continuing
to the present day. In addition, teachers and other educational
leaders can make use of curriculum materials available through
the Heart of the Rockies Education
Program. Adult learners and families can develop an in-depth
understanding of the park through reasonably priced classes
offered by the Rocky Mountain Field
Seminars. Finally, lyceum presentations, offered on Saturday
nights at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center throughout the winter,
feature a range of interesting speakers. |
