Turkey Run Ridge group campground is
a camping facility for organized groups of seven or more people.
The campground is open year- round. Campsite capacity ranges
from 25 to 40 persons. Each site has tables, grills and lantern
posts. Restrooms feature sinks and flush toilets. There are
no showers. There is one amphitheater with bench seating, which
is reservable on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rules and Regulations (for the benefit
of all)
Campsites must be kept clean and orderly
from the time of arrival to departure.
Fires must be contained in park provided
or personal grills. No fires can be left unattended. Extinguish
all fires before retiring for the night or leaving the area.
Leave extinguished ashes in the grills. Wood within the park
will not be cut, collected or removed for any reason, unless
under an approved Special Use Permit.
Wood less than six inches in diameter
may be collected within Oak Ridge Campground, Turkey Run Campground
and all Cabin Camps for use and consumption during a stay
with a valid permit. Use of power tools such as chainsaws
is prohibited.
Ropes, clotheslines, tentlines, hammocks
and nails are not to be attached to trees or other vegetation.
Quiet hours are between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
and are strictly observed. Service sinks are located at the
comfort stations. All dishes and utensils must be washed in
the service sinks or in containers. Pour wastewater directly
into service sinks and not onto the ground. Do not use campsite
spigots for cleaning, bathing or brushing teeth.
Tents and screens must be kept inside
the logged area in order to protect surrounding vegetation
and reduce soil compaction. Digging, trenching or leveling
sites for any purpose is prohibited. Bringing straw, hay,
pine boughs or any vegetative materials into the campground
is prohibited. The following are prohibited in the campground:
Alcoholic beverages, firearms, weapons of any kind and pets.
Campers must clean site of all trash, food items and property
before leaving the park. Check out time is 12:00 p.m.

Amphitheater Use
Only registered campers with permits
for the amphitheater may assemble in the amphitheater facility.
A group leader must have a bucket filled with water during
the campfire. Fires must be contained within the stone pit.
Bonfires or enlarging the stone enclosure is not permitted.
All fires must be "dead" out when you leave.
Camping Limitations
Campsite capacity varies depending
on the campsite (see map). Some can accommodate no more than
25 persons, others, no more than 40. Campers may stay no longer
than a total of 14 days in a calendar year (January through
December).
Reservations and Fees
Reservations are required for camping
and amphitheater use. An adult responsible for the group must
submit an application requesting the group's preferred camping
dates. Applications may be obtained at the visitor center,
online or by calling the visitor center at 703-221-7181 and
requesting one.
We recommend submitting applications
for the spring and fall season at least one month in advance.
We do not take reservations by phone, but we can provide information
on site availability. Upon receipt of your application we
will schedule your group and provide you with a permit (if
space is available).
Campers are required to pay the camping
fee and the park entrance fee. The camping fee for Turkey
Run Ridge group campground is $40 per site per night. The
park entrance fee is $5 for each vehicle and is valid for
seven consecutive days.
The group leader must check in prior
to 5:00 p.m. to pay any remaining fees. Groups may move into
the reserved campsite any time after 12:00 p.m.
Maximum stay is 14 days in a calendar
year with no more than seven consecutuve days at any one time
