The PN9-3 being inspected on the seaplane ramp at Crissy Field after attempting to make the first flight to Hawaii on August 31, 1925. It was able to fly only five hours before being forced down with engine trouble. The plane was then towed back to San Francisco. Note the damaged right wing tip, a consequence of the forced water landing.
