![]() A specially modified Fokker C-2 transport, the "Bird of Paradise," flew from Crissy Field to Oakland Airport and thence to Hawaii on June 28, 1927. Flown by Lieutenants Albert F. Hegenberger and Lester J. Maitland, this was the first successful flight from the mainland to the islands. Charles Lindbergh called it "the most perfectly organized and carefully planned flight ever attempted." |
