The Neighborhood Emergency Response Team training program at the Presidio is operated by the Presidio Fire Department. Its goal is to help employees, residents, and tenants of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area to be self-sufficient in a major disaster situation by developing multi-functional teams, cross-trained in basic emergency skills. Through this program, individuals will learn hands-on disaster skills that will help them as members of an emergency response team and/or as leaders in directing untrained volunteers during an emergency. This will allow them to act independently or as an adjunct to assist trained personnel.
