The National Park Service requires all researchers
collecting or performing studies in national parks to apply
for and receive a permit. The entire application process may
be completed online at the link below:
Please read the directions at this site carefully and select
the park where you wish to apply for a permit. Please keep
in mind:
1. You may attach a proposal to the application (in MS
Word format).
2. The permit guidelines are detailed on the website below.
3. Specimens collected and retained permanently must bear
NPS labels and must be accessioned and catalogued in the NPS
National Catalog (ANCS+). We have developed a Specimen Cataloguing
Guidelines document (MS Word or HTML)
and a Biotemplate Spreadsheet
(MS Excel) to facilitate this requirement of a collection
permit.
4. When submitting your completed application,
the confirmation page may take several moments to appear.
Please don't click the submit button more than once (as this
will result in more than one copy of your application being
submitted).
