The video in
this room provides a short historical overview of Pipe Spring. It
may help visitors draw back from the details of the exhibits and
see one of the overall themes of the Monument water. Without
water, a different story would be told here.
This room also
provides space to create changing exhibits. A visitor might see
a display
case of cultural artifacts. Some of these objects are strange
looking indeed! One can guess what they are and check with the ranger
at the Visitor Center Desk to discover how accurate they are. In
the summer, a visitor might encounter a ranger with their basket
of objects, playing the same Cultural History Mystery. It you are
curious, try our virtual Cultural
History Mystery.

One of the walls
has featured a history
of the Monument in photos and words. From its early days as
part of the Union Pacific's "Grand Circle" tour of parks
in southern Utah and northern Arizona to the current days, the work
and workers have created a jewel of a place to visit.
Don't forget
the quilts! Throughout the park, including this room, are both reproduction
and modern quilts. All are wonderful examples of quilting techniques
and patterns. Some were made here on the Monument by rangers and
volunteers and others were donations.
