A full schedule of talks, walks and demonstrations are available May through September. Throughout the other months, programs are not as frequent. Below are examples of programs available at Pipe Spring National Monument.

SPINNING YARNS
Sleeping Beauty at Winsor Castle?  Are any of the spinning wheels here at Winsor Castle a threat to a princess?  Join Ranger Debbie as she spins “yarns” from wool (or flax, or cotton, or…).

HORSE GROOMING
Did you know that horses need baths, manicures, and even hair (mane) cuts? Join Volunteer Reva and find out more about horse grooming.

LONGHORN LORE
Texas longhorns, “the cattle that made the west”, were first brought to Pipe Spring in 1863.  Join Ranger Ricky for a discussion of longhorn lore and use.

MONDAY

9:15 – 12 noon demonstration

TIDY
Tidy (lace making) was an art that made the home look homey.  Why "knot" join Ranger Andrea as she demonstrates a form of lace making called tatting?

YUCCA ROPE
The native Paiutes made many things from yucca, including rope. Join Ranger Glendora for a demonstration of this ancient skill.

THE BLACKHAWK WAR
The relationship between the natives living around Pipe Spring and the newcomers moving in was uneasy at best, and at times life threatening. Join Ranger Benn to learn the outcome.

DOTS & DASHES
Did you know the first telegraph office in Arizona was at Pipe Spring?  Join Volunteer Gary to learn about the importance of telegraphy on the Arizona Strip.

CULTURAL HISTORY MYSTERY
Objects from the past can seem strange and mysterious to people today. Guess “what is that?” with Ranger Ellie.

Join Ranger David as he demonstrates faux graining techniques. See how pioneers at Pipe Spring decorated plain woods to make them more attractive.
