Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial established to honor those who fought is here to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, but in equal part it is here to celebrate this long-lasting peace. Because it rivals the battle in significance the entire text of the Rush-Bagot agreement, the shortest treaty ever ordained between great nations is recorded in the monument rotunda in enduring bronze, to be read by all the people. Original Text of the "Treaty Plaque", located in the west door-well of the Memorial rotunda.
