| Abstract |
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) manages over 12 million acres of public lands in Arizona . These lands cover an array of settings from desert grasslands to ponderosa pine forests. More than 5.5 million visitors explore Arizona public lands each year, and many of them visit heritage resource sites, including impressive panels of petroglyphs and desert intaglios. With a limited staff of cultural resource specialists, the BLM relies heavily on a cadre of Site Stewards to help monitor and protect these sites. This presentation will discuss the spectrum of resources and our critical relationship with the Arizona Site Steward program.
