"Cultural Attitudes and Values: A Parallax View"

Biographical Information
 

Virginia is a 31-year career employee of the National Park Service. Her current position is as Program Manager of the Vanishing Treasures Program. Vanishing Treasures (VT), is a national program that vigorously pursues the preservation of architectural sites (often termed “ruins”) primarily in the arid lands of the desert Southwest. Currently 45 parks and monuments in 8 states benefit from the program support.

Virginia 's previous position was as the Intermountain Regional Curator, a position she held for 16 years. Again her role was to provide expert technical advice and on-site assistance to 86 parks in 8 states. In this position, Virginia was also the lead for the implementation of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act for most of the parks in the Region. She coordinated and consulted with approximately 60 tribes that had cultural affiliation with artifact collections in 26 parks.
