ADOPT A FORT AND PRESERVE YOUR NATIONAL HERITAGE
The National Park Service is seeking groups or individuals to assist in clearing and maintaining Civil War forts and earthworks at Petersburg National Battlefield. Volunteers will have the opportunity to 'adopt' a site that was originally erected 135 years ago. The earthworks remain today as a testament to those who fought, suffered, and died during one of the worst episodes in American history. Please help preserve our American heritage and experience history in a setting similar to what our ancestors saw over a century ago.
