This site is maintained by the National Park Service as part of its role as lead Federal agency for the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail.

The intent is to provide a broad range of information - an encyclopedia of the trail - to make the OVNHT accessible to as wide an audience as possible. In the future we plan to expand the information provided. Suggestions for topics and information for posting are welcome. We reserve the right to choose what information is suitable for posting, either because of content, length, or other factors.

You will notice that much information is provided for only a limited number of sites. We chose to do this rather than wait until we could compile the information for all sites. We welcome assistance in compiling data on the trail.

In the future, we hope to add historical information, short biographies, and more material to assist teachers.
