The trail may be followed from Abingdon Virginia, as described, or in reverse starting from Kings Mountain National Military Park.

Begin at OVNHT Historic Site marker on Colonial Road, travel to U.S. 11 east to Virginia 75, follow south to Tennessee line where Va. 75 becomes Tennessee 44.
