The Commemorative Motor Route in Tennessee
The trail may be followed from Abingdon Virginia, as described, or in reverse starting from Kings Mountain National Military Park.
At the Virginia line, follow Tennessee 44 south to U.S. 421. Proceed north on 421 to Bristol. Turn left on State Street and continue to U.S. 11/19. Go south until U.S. 19E turns left toward Elizabethton. Follow U.S. 19E south to U.S. 321 in Elizabethton. Turn right and follow U.S. 321 south past Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site to Gap Creek Road (Tennessee). Turn left and follow Gap Creek road south past the junction with Tennessee and continue south to U.S. 19E. Turn right and follow U.S. 19E south to the North Carolina line.
