March Reenactment
Horizontal Rule

Each year since 1975, the Overmountain Victory Trail Association has reenacted the march of the Patriot army to Kings Mountain. Period dress is encouraged but is not required.

The schedule is the same every year.

September 23 - Assemble at Dunn's Meadows on Colonial Road in Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia.

September 24 - Camp at Rocky Mount State Historic Site, Piney Flats, Sullivan County, Tennessee.

September 25 - Camp at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area, Elizabethton, Carter County, Tennessee.

September 26 - Camp at Roan Mountain State Park, Roan Mountain, Carter County, Tennessee.

September 27 - Cross Roan Mountain into North Carolina. Camp at Buck Hill Campground, Avery County.

September 28 - Camp at Blue Ridge Parkway Gillespie District Facility, Museum of North Carolina Minerals, Spruce Pine, Mitchell County, North Carolina.

September 29 - Camp at North Cove Elementary School, McDowell County, North Carolina.

September 30 - Cross Linville Mountain. Camp at Quaker Meadows Plantation House, Morganton, Burke County, North Carolina.

October 1 & 2 - Camp at Dysartsville Community Club in McDowell County on North Carolina 226 east of Marion, North Carolina. Hold annual meeting.

October 3 - Camp at Cane Creek Community Club on U.S. 64 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.

October 4 - Camp at Gilbert Town site in Rutherford County outside Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

October 5 - Camp at Green River. Site may vary.

October 6 - Camp at Cowpens National Battlefield on South Carolina 11 on the Spartanburg-Cherokee County line near Chessnee and the town of Cowpens.

October 7 - Arrive at 3 p.m. at the commemorative ceremonies at Kings Mountain National Military Park in South Carolina on route 216 south of Interstate 85 south of Charlotte, NC.

Wilkes-Surry Segment is not reenacted. A special ceremony is conducted by Old Wilkes, inc. and W. Kerr Scott Reservoir each fall in the Wilkesboro, North Carolina, area.
