In North Carolina From Tennessee Line to Morganton
The trail may be followed from Abingdon Virginia, as described, or in reverse starting from Kings Mountain National Military Park.
At Tennessee line, continue south on U.S. 19E through Avery County to Spruce Pine. Turn left onto North Carolina 226. Follow NC 226 east across the Blue Ridge Parkway into Marion. Go east on U.S. 70 toward Morganton. Turn left onto North Carolina 126 toward Morganton. In Morganton, turn right on North Carolina 181 and proceed east, joining with U.S. 64 at Sanford Drive.
