Kings Mountain National Military Park:

First saturday in May - May 5, 2001 - Kings Mountain Forum: Speakers, demonstrations, academic papers, music, public roundtable discussions - all open to the public. The KMF is intended to promote discussions and study of what the late reenactor William Hall called the "Kings Mountain War." The day ends with a concert featuring music about the colonial period and the Revolutionary War.

Academics, students, popular historians are invited to apply to appear on the program at the Kings Mountain Forum. Topics should address the Battle of Kings Mountain, the campaign leading up to the battle, colonial life in the back country and Overmountain region, or other aspects of period pertinent to the American Revolution. Efforts associated with the study of the battle and campaign, efforts to preserve and understand the campaign, and modern impact are also possible.

Musicians performing colonial music or modern music dealing with the campaign and colonial life are welcome.

Artisans performing crafts practiced on the frontier in 1780 are also invited.

Persons specifically aiming their presentations at children are especially encouraged to apply.

Organizers reserve the right to pick and choose based on their needs for the program. The organizers encourage proposals but reserve the right to make the final choice.
