La Cienega Design

Students came and researched and combined ideas to develop the final desing for La Cienega.

This was the final design submitted by the Eighth Grade Class of Ajo Middle School. The ORPI staff, only made minor modifications and approved the design.

Students started excavation for
the new pupfish habitat on November 28, 2004.

The pond's demensions are roughly 15 feet long by 12 feet across. The southern edge of the pond, nearest to the nature trail, will be approx 8"-10" deep. And the northern edge will be 24" deep.

(please note that the design shown to the right should be turned 90 degrees counter-clockwise to orient to the north)

It will eventually be lined with a rubber pond liner and a filtration system installed. Keep checking the "What's Happening" page to check our progres!
