Directions and Map to the Monument

The monument is located 20 miles east of Cave Junction, Oregon, at the end of route 46.

From Interstate 5 at Grants Pass, Oregon, go southwest on Highway 199 and turn east State Highway 46
From Crescent City, California, go northeast on Highway 199, then turn east onto State Highway 46.

A map has been provided for your convenience by MapQuest.

Highway 46 may be closed for short periods during the winter. For information on current conditions at the Monument, contact the Oregon Caves Visitor Center..

Parking your Car

Private vehicles can access the monument by Interstate 5 and State Roads. Bus service is available four times daily from Grants Pass to Cave Junction, but not to the Monument itself.

After you Park

At the Monument, it's a five minute walk from the main parking lot to the Visitor Center and the cave entrance.

Visitor Information

The Visitor Center opens 30 minutes before the first tour of the day and closes when the last tour of the day begins. Staff is available to assist you with park orientation, hiking information, cave tour ticket sales, book sales, and regional travel information.

Food Service

The historic Chateau serves local produce, meats, wines, and micro-brews. When the Chateau is open for lodging, the 1930’s style coffee shop is open for lunch and the Chateau Fine Dinning room is open for dinner.

In the spring and the fall when the Chateau is closed and the Visitor Center is open, snacks and beverages are available for sale by the Natural History Association in the Visitor Center.

Lodging on the Monument

One of the National Park's Great Lodges, the historic Chateau is a six-story hotel located on the Monument. It has 23 rooms and the large lobby on the fourth floor of the building contains a huge double fireplace of marble construction. The lodge is scheduled to be open late April through late October. These dates are subject to change. The Chateau is operated by Oregon Caves Outfitters, a non-profit organization. Camping - RV Parks in Oregon Caves Area

While there is no camping within the Oregon Caves National Monument, there are two Forest Service campgrounds and several private campgrounds and/or RV parks are within a short drive of the Monument

  • Caves Creek is located just a few miles from the Oregon Caves. It offers primitive amenities and will not accommodate large RVs. The campsites are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Contact by phone at (541) 592-2166.
  • Grayback is located 8 miles from the caves. Grayback offers running water and flush toilets. The area is flatter and more accommodating to RVs. The campsites are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Contact by phone at (541) 592-2166.
  • Country Hills Campground, 7901 Caves Hwy, Cave Junction (541) 592-3406. Reservations are taken.
  • Dewitt's Town & Country RV Park, 28288 Redwood Highway, Cave Junction (541) 592-2656. Reservations are taken.
  • Flying W Campground (Lake Selmac), Selma (541) 597-2277. Reservations are taken. The resort has 29 sites and offers camping, RV spaces, boat rentals, 18-hole mini-golf course, fishing, swimming, horse trails and a general store.
  • Kerby Trailer & RV Park, 24542 Redwood Highway, Kerby (541) 592-2897. Reservations are taken.
  • Lake Selmac (Josephine County Parks), Selma (541) 474-5285. This park has 91 sites, 39 with full hook ups, RV dump station, restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, ball fields, playground, and boat ramps. Assistant Ranger and seasonal hosts in park to answer questions.
  • Ol' Jo RV Park, 156 Ollis Road, Cave Junction (541) 592-4207. Reservations are taken.
