Sea Otter
Enhydra lutra
 Family: Mustelidae

The sea otter is a well known inhabitant of the coastlines of California and Alaska. These members of the weasel family were hunted nearly to extinction in the 18th and 19th centuries for their soft fur. Because of reintroduction efforts in the 1970s off the Washington coast, they are making a slow but steady comeback here at Olympic.
