Time Periods Index

The history of the Ocmulgee Old Fields has been divided into six time periods:

Prehistoric	Colonial	Pioneer
Antebellum	Civil War	Modern

Use these links to go to the time period of your choice and learn more about it.

In each time period, you will find a detailed timeline which we suggest you examine first, documents providing more information, links to other sites with relevant information, a list of suggested activities to help you better explore life in a particular period, and a self test to help you see how much you have really learned.

After visiting each time period, we encourage you to use the Nicenet forum to share your thoughts and feelings about what you learned with others, and be sure to read what others have written. Their point of view might differ from yours, and may enable you to see what you have learned in a new light. Also consider that writing out your impressions of each time period will give you some time to reflect on what you have learned, and will help you in your understanding of the Ocmulgee Old Fields and its peoples.
