DUNLAP HOUSE AND CIVIL WAR EARTHWORKS

Antebellum Dunlap House

Antebellum Dunlap House

The Dunlap House, present residence of the park's Superintendent, was the temporary headquarters of General George Stoneman during the Battle of Dunlap Farm in 1864.  The Confederate gun emplacement, located in the woods behind the Dunlap House, overlooked the railroad trestle over Walnut Creek.  It is one of only two Civil War earthworks still known to exist in the Macon vicinity.
