Classroom Recommendations:

This site is designed for fifth through eighth graders. You may wish to demonstrate the site and its activities for fifth and sixth graders who may not be as familiar with concepts and vocabulary used in these pages.

Here are some alternatives for using the site:

  1. Grade Levels: 7th and up. During one class period, assign 10 groups (of two or three students) one of the featured activities. Have each group gain a clue to the Wondervault. During the next class period, enter the ten clues into the Wondervault and follow Recommendation #4.
  2. Grade Levels: 5th and up. Have the class, or groups of two or three, follow one section that is related to current classwork and perform the associated Backyard Activities as a class.
  3. Grade Levels: 5th and up. Experience the Wondervault as a class on an overhead projector—highly recommended for fifth and sixth graders. Have each student write a few paragraphs that evening about why their favorite clue is important to helping out the environment and North Cascades National Park (or a wild area near your hometown). Hold a class discussion on the 10 words.
