Newhalem Creek
Newhalem Creek and Riparian Forests

Newhalem creek is a cobble-filled tributary of the Skagit River on the west side of the Cascade Crest. Numerous boulders and pools create an ideal habitat for harlequin ducks. These aquatic insect- and fish-feeding river ducks are known to frequent Newhalem Creek. Riparian forests provide shade to keep waters cool and provide excellent habitat for birds, bats, deer and many other animals.
