STEWARDSHIP OF THE PUBLIC DOMAIN:
GOVERNMENT IN THE NORTH CASCADES

OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

National Park Service (NPS)

This chapter in the history of the North Cascades is being written each and every day. Since the establishment of North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake National Recreation Area, and Lake Chelan National Recreation Area in 1968, the National Park Service has assumed the management role for these lands. For an in-depth look at the creation of the Park Complex and a detailed look at the National Park Service's involvement between 1968-1998, see David Louter's Contested Terrain: An Adminstrative History.

We hope Historic Resource Study has been of interest and given you insight into how the North Cascades that you visit today has been shaped by those who have come before.
