Joseph Canyon overlook, Oregon. (NPS Photo)
The park is unique in the National Park system because of its widely spread sites covering almost 1200 miles in length. Park sites exist on varied geography consisting of mountains, plains, prairies, and river corridors. The natural features extend across most of the eastern pacific northwest, through the north central Rocky Mountains, and into the great plains.
