School Programs 

Beginning in October and running through April, Mount Rushmore offers both on-site and off-site education programs. Programs are offered for grades Kindergarten through fifth. During the winter months rangers go to the schools and provide education programs based on the South Dakota Content Standards. Program topics vary from ranger to ranger but in the past have included, Abraham Lincoln, Mount Rushmore, Light and Shadow in Art, the Flags of America, the water cycle and critiquing art. In the spring, on-site programs are offered at Mount Rushmore. Students are taken on a tour of the park and given a program discussing how Mount Rushmore was carved. To make a reservation to have a ranger come to your classroom or to visit Mount Rushmore you can contact the Education Specialist, Rhonda Schier at (605) 574-3134 or fill out the electronic reservation form, print and mail it to Rhonda Schier, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, 13000 Hwy 244. Bldg 31, Suite 1, Keystone, SD 57751.
