Colorado River Historical Society and Musuem: Bullhead City, Arizona

Goffs School House: Goffs, California
The charming school house served the desert community in Goffs. Built in 1914, children went to school here until 1937. The building has been restored by the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association, and they will begin offerring tours of the building in the Fall of 1999. Contact the MDHCA for tour times. Mojave River Valley Museum: Barstow, California
The Mojave River Valley Museum is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the scientific, historical and cultural heritage of the past and present, for the people of the Mojave River Valley. They have a series of displays that portray the history of the Mojave River Valley from the arrival of Father Garces in 1776 on through pathfinders, pioneers, miners and the present space program. Actual artifacts from the famous Calico Early Man site are on display. Other displays include 19th century mining, gemstones & minerals, railroads, automotive, local history including the first radio station on the high desert, and the famed "headless horseman" found in the desert in 1965. The Museum is Located at 270 E. Virginia Way, Barstow, California. Exit I- 15 at Barstow Road and go north one block. The Museum is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission. Needles Museum: Needles, California
Visit this wonderful little museum to learn about the history of Needles, and eastern California. Located in downtown Needles, at 923 Front Street, just across the street from the historic El Garces Railroad Station. Admission: Donation. Telephone (760)326-5678

Searchlight Historic Museum and Historic Mining Park: Searchlight, Nevada
Searchlight has an interesting mining history that you can discover in this museum. It is located in the Community Center - follow the signs from Route 95. Hours: 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Mon.-Fri.; 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Admission: Donation. Telephone (702) 297-1642

This group maintains a library and historic archives for Tri-State cities of Needles, Bullhead City and Laughlin.

Twentynine Palms Old Schoolhouse Museum: Twentynine Palms, California
This Twentynine Palms Historical Society preserves and interprets the historical heritage of Twentynine Palms. The museum is located in the Old Schoolhouse, built in 1927, and has displays and artifacts representing the different eras of the area - Native Americans, mining, cattle, and homesteading. The Museum is staff entirely by volunteer docents and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. It can be found on National Park Drive in the shadow of the community's historic Oasis.
