Minute Man
Recruited from among the militia (the militia
was a part-time citizen army made up of eligible males between
16 and 60 years of age), minute men were elite colonial soldiers
who's duty it was to be ready to answer an alarm at a minute's
warning. Along the road from Concord to Charlestown, minute men
took up positions and fired on the British troops from atop small
hills and from behind boulders, stone walls, trees, houses and
barns.
