Long House Tour

The 1.5 hour Long House ranger-guided tour is strenuous. To enter Long House visitors must descend a paved trail including 50 concrete steps. The trail descends 100 feet within a half mile of walking. The round trip is just under one mile.

A trip to Long House in the summer time can be quite strenuous due to the heat, elevation and steepness of the trail, but the sheer beauty of the site makes it worth the time and effort. Tickets for a 1.5 hour Long House tour must be purchased at the Far View Visitor Center prior to traveling to Wetherill Mesa. As with all cliff dwellings this tour is not recommended for those with heart or respiratory problems.

Wetherill Mesa offers an alternate, more relaxed Mesa Verde experience. The area was designed with walking in mind. All the Wetherill Mesa sites, except Long House, can be accessed by walking trails. We hope that you will make time to travel out to Wetherill and share in this unique experience.
