Visitor Center
The Visitor
Center and its rest rooms are accessible to those with mobility impairments.
The park films may be shown with closed-captions. One or more rangers
are trained to some degree in sign language. Call the park ahead of time
to find out if a sign language interpreter will be available for your
tour date. Inquiries may also be made at the information desk.
Trails
The Heritage
Trail
This level trail offers all visitors a leisurely stroll
and has been specially designed to accommodate visitors with disabilities.
The trail features wheelchair turnouts, rest areas with benches, and lights
for evening use. Along this trail, you will find a beautiful overlook,
large trees, and the Old Guides Cemetery. You can borrow a cassette tape
describing the walk at the Visitor Center. The trail begins at the end
of the footbridge near the Mammoth Cave Hotel.
Sloan's
Crossing Pond Trail
An accessible
boardwalk encircles this fascinating pond, with turnouts that take you
to the water's edge. Viewing platforms and wayside exhibits help you learn
about this special area.
Picnic
Area
Open seasonally,
the picnic area is minimally accessible to those with mobility impairments.
There are two disabled access parking spaces and picnic tables. Rest rooms
are not accessible for mobility impaired visitors. Paths to the picnic
shelters are paved, but there are not wheelchair accessible tables under
the picnic shelters.
Campgrounds
Headquarters
Campground
Loop D has two designated wheelchair accessible campsites.
Rest Rooms facilities are also accessible. The nearby camp store, post
office, and laundry facilities are also accessible. Camping facilities
are available March through November.
Maple
Springs Group Campground
This campground is north of the Green River, across the ferry.*
The campground does not meet accessibility standards.
*Buses
may not ride the Green River Ferry.
Hotel
& Restaurant
The Mammoth
Cave Hotel provides access for visitors in wheelchairs. Four fully
accessible overnight accommodations and two fully accessible sets of rest
rooms are now available.
