Communities around the country are rediscovering the land, their
heritage, and how national parks connect people to their landscapes
and the resources that sustain them. Sustainability News explores
the relationships between people, their landscapes, and their
future, and how national parks and park partners are demonstrating
"best practices" Systemwide.
The spring 2005 issue of Sustainability News, "Shared
Stewardship: People, Places, and Progress," examines emerging
trends for attaining a more sustainable landscape. As people seek
to relate to park resources in more meaningful ways, parks and
their partners are pursuing innovations from "green"
certifications to hybrid vehicles. New connections to the landscape
are a result, with exciting examples that apply to everyone's
lives. Articles feature work done by the Conservation Study Institute,
Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historic Park, and Shelburne
Farms.
