The Trolley

With their introduction in the late 19th Century, electric trolleys became a popular form of transportation. In Lowell trolley tracks not only lined city streets, but criss-crossed the countryside, bringing passengers to parks, lakes and other recreational activities. Re-created trolleys, like the one seen here, currently operate at Lowell National Historical Park from March to November.
