A Brief Visit

Mile of Mills

Present day Lowell showing several brick mill buildings, brick smoke stacks, and iron bridge from across the river

Lowell's mile of mills seen from across the Merrimack River. Many mill buildings remained abandoned after the manufacturing companies left Lowell. Without the recent revitalization of Lowell, many of these mills would have been torn down, or left in ruins. Today, mill buildings throughout the city provide apartments and office space, as well as the various sites of Lowell National Historical Park.
