A Brief Visit

The Weave Room

Women working on weaving machine.

Lowell's textile workers toiled long hours in hot, humid mills and operated dangerous machinery. Weave room workers breathed lint filled air and contended with the deafening roar of the power looms.

This re-created 1920's weave room, operating in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum, lets visitors experience the sights and sounds of a working mill.
