Fort Spokane Indian Boarding School 1901-1908: Three rows of indian girls in school uniforms.

When you and the rest of the new students from your area arrive at Fort Spokane, you are divided into groups of boys and girls by the school's principal, Mr. Livengood, and all of the teachers. They were telling you what to do in a language you could not understand or speak. You guessed that they were speaking English since that is usually what the soldiers at the post spoke.

Finally, the teachers made it clear to all of the students that the students must split up into two groups, one of boys and one of girls. The boys were taken to one of the big, long barracks that the soldiers used to live in and the girls were taken to another. These buildings were going to be your new home.
