PROGRAMS

The education program at the Seattle unit of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park offers students, teachers, and parents the opportunity to learn about Seattle’s role in the last great gold rush of the nineteenth century.  Please join us in commemorating the Klondike Gold Rush!

Education Programs

Certain programs are offered on specific days of the week. If you have an idea of when you would like to visit the park, simply match the program with the day you would like to come then make a reservation by calling the education coordinator Tim Karle at 206 220-4235.

"Introduction to the Klondike Gold Rush”

This program allows groups with a limited amount of time to experience the park without the constraints of a formal program.  A ranger will provide and introduction to the National Park Service and the Klondike Gold Rush, followed by a showing of our twenty-seven minute film, Days of Adventure, Dreams of Gold.

Grade:                    4th through 12th grade
Group Size:            Up to 50 students
Program Length:     35 minutes
Time:                      9:00, 10:30, 1:00 on Mondays through Fridays.


“Seattle and the Klondike Gold Rush”

For groups that want to know more about Seattle’s contributions to the Klondike Gold Rush.  A ranger will show the students our fifteen minute slide program, Seattle: Gateway to the Goldfields .

Grade:                    3rd through 12th grade
Group Size:             Up to 50 students
Program Length:     40 minutes
Time:                      9:00, 10:30, 1:00, Mondays through Fridays.


“The Klondike Gold Rush Story”

This provides the complete story of the Klondike Gold Rush.  The group has can choose one of our two films, either Days of Adventure, Dreams of Gold or Seattle: Gateway to the Goldfields.  Following the film, the  ranger will provide the group with a gold panning demonstration emphasizing just what it took for the miners to find and remove the gold in the Klondike Gold fields.

Grade:                    3rd through 12th grade
Group Size:             Up to 50 students
Program Length:     One hour
Time:                      9:00, 10:30, 1:00 on Mondays through Thursdays.
