The following information will help in planning a visit to the park.

Making Reservations for Education Programs

If you have any questions, please contact the park staff at (206) 220-4240, daily, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  To make a program reservation call the Education Coordinator Tim Karle Tuesdays through Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If you would like to see a calendar of dates and times available for group programs, one is available for your viewing on this web site.

Group Size

The park rangers request that you bring no more than 50 students per group. Groups larger than 50 students at this time are discouraged do to limited exhibit area and theatre seating.

If you do not have the time for a formal program, you can make a reservation to see one of our audio visual programs. We cannot accept groups larger than 55 people; this is the seating capacity of our theater.

Chaperones

The park rangers request that for each group that visits our site, you bring at least one teacher/adult for every six or seven students. Please instruct the chaperones to remain with their groups throughout the ranger's program.

Other Points To Remember

We appreciate that your group is considering taking the time out of its busy classroom schedule to visit our park. During the school year we are apopular destination for school groups, therefore, to keep these groups on time,we have strict scheduling requirements.

Please note: Groups arriving more than 15 minutes after their designated arrival time will have their planned activities adjusted or eliminated to meet the demands of the schedule.  Please understand that this rule is in place to ensure that your group has a quality educational experience.

Directions To The Park

By Car: Take the James Street exit from I-5 (North or Southbound). Turn left onto Second Avenue, then right on Jackson Street. There are a number of parking lots available in the area. Street parking is limited,so come early.

By Bus: Pioneer Square is served by several bus routes. For fare and schedule information, call Metro at (206) 553-3000. School bus parking is available on Main Street, just east of the Park, from 9:00 am to 5:00pm daily.

By Waterfront Streetcar: Currently the Waterfront Streetcar is not running, but has been replaced by Bus route #99 which follows approximately the same route and time schedule. It no longer travels on Main Street, but on Jackson Street in both directions. For schedule information call Metro at (206) 553-3000.

By Washington State Ferry:  The ferry dock is within easy walking distance of the park: go south on Alaskan Way, turn left on Yesler, go up two blocks to First Avenue, turn right, the park is two blocks away.
