| Indian Games You Can Play | |
Many of the games the Indian children played helped to teach them skills and their tribes beliefs. |
| String Game: Indian children tied the ends of string together to make a loop, then created figures with the strng by weaving it around their fingers. They made "cats cradle," "witches broom," "cup and saucer," and many more. You can get a book on the string game at your local library. It takes some practice but is lots of fun, and you can show your figures to your friends at school. | ![]() |
| Knotty Game: You need at least two people, a string, and thats all. Tie one or more knots in the string so that the others cant see. Then the others guess how many knots you tied. | |

Basket Toss: You will need a basket and several objects (Desert Indians often used pine cones) that wont bounce. You can play by yourself or with others. If you play by yourself, put one object in the basket, throw it up, and try to catch it in the basket. Then add another object and try to catch both. Keep adding objects until you cant catch them all. |
| If you play with others, put the object in the basket and toss it to another person, who tries to catch it with his basket. If that person catches it, you add another object and another until the person cant catch them all. | |
| Hopping Game: The hopping game is very fun. First, you start hopping without turning, switching feet, or stopping. If you stop or put your feet down, you are out. Play until only one person is left hopping. | ![]() |
