Joshua Tree National Park will present monthly bird walks at two locations this fall: Black Rock Canyon and Cottonwood Spring. Each walk is conducted by a volunteer ranger who is also an avid birder. Participants meet at 8 a.m. and the walks last for about 1½ hours. You will want to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring some water.
Black Rock Canyon Saturdays:
November 19
December 17
8 a.m. — (1½ hours, 2 miles) Bring your binoculars and meet at the nature center in Black Rock Campground.
Cottonwood Spring

Sundays:
November 13
December 11
plus Thursday November 24

8 a.m. — (1½ hours, ½ mile) Bring your binoculars and meet at the Cottonwood Spring parking area.
