Disasters have occurred throughout our history and continue to occur. We received many comments from visitors to this page to include specific disasters on our list.

Our mission at Johnstown Flood National Memorial is to commemorate the flood of May 31, 1889. It was a major disaster.

We are no longer maintaining a list of disasters. There are too many for us to keep up with, from earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, to epidemics, floods, storms, fires, crashes, spills, and attacks.
