[Block 88A]
Joseph Lacroix owned this small vertical
log house, which he built for himself about 1797.
The home of Joseph Lacroix once stood on
the right of Olive Street, while the Pecard Barn was on the left.
This view was taken from the Arch grounds looking west at the confluence
of modern
Third Street (now called Memorial Drive and a major, busy highway)
and Olive Street (now blocked to traffic from Memorial Drive). The
building on the site of the Lacroix House is the headquarters of
the Peabody Coal Company.
