David Rohrer lived in this poteaux en terre (posts in the earth) house on the southeast corner of this block, measuring 25 x 20 feet. He was an American who bought the house in February 1804, just prior to the transfer of the territory (see Block 6). He owned a salt works on the Meramec River to the south of St. Louis.
