This stone house measured 24 x 30 feet. It
was built in 1786 and owned by Jean Pierre Pourcelly, a native of
Province, France. In 1806 it was purchased by Joseph
Robidoux III (1783-1868), a merchant and trader.
This
modern view, looking northeast toward the Mississippi River, was
taken from the site of the Pourcelly House. To the left the 1874
Eads Bridge can be seen; the railroad cut can be seen near the bottom
of the picture.
